Micro Mountain Wedding in Colorado | Mel and Drew

Micro Mountain Wedding in Colorado | Mel and Drew

Mel and Drew are like almost all of my couples their year. They had to postpone their big day to next year so they opted for a micro mountain wedding in Colorado’s high country said “I do” on their date. Their parents, Mel’s brother and his fiancee joined the officiant and his wife at Clinton Gulch Dam Reservoir for the intimate ceremony. They had an ecstatic first look. I love their energy and love for one another and I’m not just saying that to make this blog post sound good. They are so happy together. I experienced it first hand at their fall engagement session at Maroon Bells. Amy and I had a blast with them back then and we can’t wait to get out…

Colorado Mountain House Elopement | Marla & Chris

Colorado Mountain House Elopement | Marla & Chris

Five years ago I was asked last minute (literally two hours notice) to fill in on a soccer team headed to Crested Butte for a weekend tournament. I didn’t know a soul on the team and got in a car with a couple of complete strangers bound for the mountains and a new adventure. Looking back, it was a little crazy I knew it would be a story someday so I just went with it. Marla and Chris happened to be on the team. Though they weren’t officially dating at the time we could all tell that the chemistry between the two of them was there. Fast forward to 2020 and we all know how the story goes at this point. Their East Coast wedding…

Colorado Mountain Ranch Wedding | Laura & Ryan

Colorado Mountain Ranch Wedding | Laura & Ryan

Laura and Ryan got married earlier this month at the beautiful and rustic 4 Eagle Ranch in Wolcott just outside of Vail. It’s been an unusual year to say the least so it was great to get back to work, if only briefly, to capture their incredible day. I’ve enjoyed working with them from the start. They brought beer, chips and an avocado to share during their mountain lake engagement session last summer. We had a blast. Simply put, they’re great people and despite the pandemic I was going to do everything I could to document their day as it unfolded. It was different but the same in so many ways. I was glad that Michael could join me to help photograph the wedding and…

Honored by the Wedding Photojournalist Association

Honored by the Wedding Photojournalist Association

Capturing moments on a wedding day is something that as a wedding photojournalist I believe is the most important part of my job. I’m there to document the day for my clients and their families so that they can relive it all for years to come. I want couples to love their images but it’s also nice to be recognized by the industry, specifically the Wedding Photojournalist Association. The organization has strict standards and ethics which is a big reason why I choose to surround myself with like minded peers in the industry. Each year the WPJA recognizes the top wedding photojournalists in the world based on the moments they captured throughout the year and I was fortunate to be included in that list. As…

Colorful Greek Wedding in Denver | Ioanna & Alex

Colorful Greek Wedding in Denver | Ioanna & Alex

When Ioanna reached out to me about her and Alex’s wedding she mentioned that one of her close friends passed my name along to her. The thing was, I didn’t actually photograph Vanna’s wedding. After connecting with me, Wanna eventually decided to hire someone else but encouraged Ioanna to contact me when she was looking for a photographer for her wedding. When Ioanna told me this story, it really stuck with me that I could have such a strong impact on someone who didn’t actually hire me. I was incredibly touched by this gesture. Over the course of the year we connected several times about the wedding and with each detail revealed my excitement for the day grew. I’ve done tons of Greek weddings over…

The Vista at Applewood Golf Course Wedding | Jessica & Mike

The Vista at Applewood Golf Course Wedding | Jessica & Mike

Jessica’s jaw has to be sore because she seemed to smile for 12 straight hours. If you are lucky enough to know how happy Mike makes her then this will come as no surprise. Their wedding day was a joy to be able to document from the moment that we walked in the door. The bridal suite at the church had great light so Jessica and the ladies decided to get ready there. Meanwhile Travis photographed Mike and his groomsmen getting ready at his apartment. There were a lot of laughs all morning long at both locations. You might even remember these two from their winter Keystone engagement this past winter. Instead of a first look, Jessica and Mike opted to share a quiet moment…

Colorado Ski Resort Wedding | David and Xinya

Colorado Ski Resort Wedding | David and Xinya

I have been looking forward to David and Xinya’s Colorado ski resort wedding all year. Not only are they two of the nicest people that I’ve ever met but they got married at one of my favorite winter playgrounds, Arapahoe Basin. While I was with Xinya and the ladies at a cute cabin rental in Silverthorne, Michael drove up to A Basin to meet David where they were getting ready. Before too long we headed up to Loveland Pass for their first look. David’s reaction was priceless and I’m sure it helped convince Xinya that her trek up a steep slope in heels was all worth it. Their ceremony and reception took place at A Basin’s Black Mountain Lodge. We all rode the lift to…

Summer wedding in Summit County | Carissa & Kyle

Summer wedding in Summit County | Carissa & Kyle

When Carissa and Kyle reached out to me just three months ago and told me what they were planning I jumped at the chance to photograph their intimate summer wedding in Summit County. They were open to any and all of my ideas so I made a few suggestions and they got to work planning what turned out to be a great day. It was an absolute treat to work with them and the 23 other friends and family that they invited to their small mountain wedding. I arrived at Carissa’s parents condo in Dillon just as she was sitting down for makeup. There wasn’t a lot of room in the space with good light so she decided to take her cousin with her outside…

Summer Beaver Creek Wedding | Melissa and Drew

Summer Beaver Creek Wedding | Melissa and Drew

I started off what is always the busiest month of the year in Eagle County for Melissa and Drew’s summer Beaver Creek wedding. I walked in the condo just as the champagne started flowing so I had a feeling it was going to be a great day. While I was up a floor with Melissa and all the ladies, Michael photographed Drew and the groomsmen getting ready. Following first look near the condo we made our way to the village and boarded the Centennial Express lift to the Beaver Creek Wedding Deck for their on-mountain ceremony. Melissa and Drew ski here all the time so it was a fitting location to express some heartfelt and, at times, hilarious vows to each other. We spent a couple…

Black Tie Wedding at the Denver Museum | Ewo & Henry

Black Tie Wedding at the Denver Museum | Ewo & Henry

The energy was high from the very start of Ewo and Henry’s black tie wedding in Denver. We arrived at the Halcyon hotel to music playing and a room full of Ewo’s closest friends and family in the lovely presidential suite. The crew had a blast telling stories, doing yoga on the patio and helping Ewo get ready for one of the best days of her life. While I was with the ladies, Travis was next door with Henry in a much more subdued environment. Henry worked on finalizing some last minute details for the wedding before getting dressed and heading downtown for first look. One of the funniest moments of the day came with Ewo crossed the street from the hotel with Henry’s sister…
