Chris and I had mutual friends in high school and we’re sure we had a beverage or two together at some point so it made sense to start their Jefferson Park engagement at a brewery. Angie and Chris live in the up and coming neighborhood which features a couple of great restaurants as well as Briar Common Brewery, where we started. We chatted over a couple of hoppy beers outside in the sunlight and it was so good that we almost ordered a second round.

They live just down the street so we walked over to pick up their cattle dog mix, Ella. She tried her best to contain her excitement in front of the camera but couldn’t help it. Part of me thinks she knew exactly how to be a selective listener to receive extra treats.

We went back to their place to drop off the dog and change into a second outfit before I drove us down to my neighborhood, LoDo, for something different. I love shooting all around my neighborhood because the light changes weekly throughout the year. I captured some different light during a LoDo Denver engagement earlier this year. We managed to find a sweet pocket of screaming light that made Wynkoop Street feel like a completely different world.

Near the end of the session we snuck up to the top of a parking garage that I hadn’t been too before. Exploring is always half the fun but it’s key to making new, unique images for each couple that I photograph. It’s challenging but I love it because couples value having something they can call their own.

Thanks you two for allowing me to capture your Jefferson Park engagement. I’m thrilled to photograph your mountain wedding at Beano’s Cabin on Beaver Creek Mountain next July.
