Madison at the Mill Wedding | Ashley & Richie

Madison at the Mill Wedding | Ashley & Richie

I’ve been fortunate enough to be friends with Ashley for more than 12 years since we met during a semester abroad in Rome, Italy. When I departed for that trip I had no idea that it would change my life and career path. I picked up a camera while I was there and haven’t put one down since thanks to people like Ashley who encouraged me along the way. When she asked me to photograph her and Richie’s Madison at the Mill wedding I was honored to do so. Richie waited for Ashley while she explored the world and even traveled great distances to see her so before I ever met him I had an immense amount of respect for him. Having only drank a…

Fall Frisco Engagement | Julia & Micah

Fall Frisco Engagement | Julia & Micah

In a rare showing, Julia and Micah’s fall Frisco engagement featured gorgeous fall colors and a snowy winter wonderland atop Shrine Pass. They’re both in grad school in Nashville and traveled out to Colorado for their session so I’m glad that the weather worked out. It’s not often that a session has two completely different feels but theirs definitely did. We met up in Frisco before venturing over to a few locations that had the last remaining golden aspen trees in the area. Our next stop required all wheel drive so they hopped in my car for the journey up Shrine Pass near Vail. The area was recently blanketed by the first major snow of the season but that didn’t stop them from embracing the elements….

Fall Mountain Engagement Photos | Holly & Hayden

Fall Mountain Engagement Photos | Holly & Hayden

The weather and fall color in the mountains is often unpredictable so it wasn’t surprising that we were rained out of our first attempt for their session. Despite more finicky weather on our second attempt, in true Colorado fashion, we experienced nearly all four seasons in one day for Holly and Hayden’s fall mountain engagement photos. Shooting during the fall colors season in the Colorado high country is my favorite so I’m glad that everything worked out for us. I had been paying attention to the fall foliage map since the color changed earlier this year because the mountains experienced a drought last winter. We met up at Outer Range Brewing for a beer before venturing over to a nearby aspen grove that was in…

Fall Blackstone Rivers Ranch Wedding | Kate & Brian

Fall Blackstone Rivers Ranch Wedding | Kate & Brian

Kate and Brian’s fall Blackstone Rivers Ranch wedding was full of rustic elegance and a fantastic setting for many of their out of town guests. I’ve been looking forward to this one since their spring Golden Gate Canyon engagement from earlier this year. While I was with the ladies, Anya was just down the hall photographing the guys getting ready. I love the fact that there are equally gorgeous spaces for both a bride and groom at the venue. After finishing touches, we drove nine miles up the road to Echo Lake for first look. While we were up there, their dog Koda joined us for a few portraits. Their outdoor ceremony at Blackstone Rivers Ranch beautifully captured both their faith and a love for…

Fall Piney Lake Engagement in Vail | Caroline & Brendan

Fall Piney Lake Engagement in Vail | Caroline & Brendan

If you’ve never seen the Gore Range from Piney Lake, it should be on your Colorado bucket list. For that reason alone, I was excited when Caroline and Brendan asked me to shoot their fall Piney Lake engagement in Vail. Located about 40 minutes North of the town of Vail up a logging road, it may be a bumpy ride but the view alone is worth the adventure. I haven’t been back since I photographed this wedding at the ranch and fall is the perfect time to visit. Caroline and Brendan are getting married out of state and since they love the mountains and water, we knew this would be an ideal location for their engagement photos. We shared a beer on the deck before venturing…

Meghan & Kevin’s Fall Colors Wedding at Camp Hale

Meghan & Kevin’s Fall Colors Wedding at Camp Hale

September is often the perfect month to get married in Colorado in my opinion so I have been looking forward to Meghan and Kevin’s fall colors Camp Hale wedding for a while. Autumn in the high country is hard to beat and the drive through Red Cliff to Camp Hale on the former 10th Mountain Division site is gorgeous. Meghan’s parents bought a place not far from Camp Hale a couple years ago so they knew what the area had to offer this time of year. While Meghan was getting ready at Elkhorn Lodge in Beaver Creek, Travis photographed Kevin and the groomsmen getting ready at a rented home in Avon just down the road. Their ceremony took place at the Chapel at Beaver Creek near the…

Cheesman Park Wedding | Sara & Ryan

Cheesman Park Wedding | Sara & Ryan

Last weekend I didn’t have to travel far for Sara and Ryan’s Cheesman Park wedding. It was refreshing to walk over to the Westin where the ladies got ready while Travis drove over to their condo to start with the guys. Sara was mostly done with hair and makeup when I arrived so she was able to relax while her family got ready. The weather was a touch chilly but there wasn’t a cloud in the sky by the time the ceremony started under the pavilion at Cheesman Park. They opted not to see each other before the ceremony so there was a great moment when Sara walked down the aisle with her father. The sun poured in over the nuptials as both Ryan and Sarah…

Fall Golden Engagement | Coza & Joel

Fall Golden Engagement | Coza & Joel

As fall approaches, it was still quite warm for Coza and Joel’s fall Golden engagement photos last week. The higher temperatures have prevented the trees at lower elevations from changing into all their gorgeous hues yet. We were determined to find some color for their session though because like myself, they’re also Colorado natives and fall colors are a great aspect of the state. They have a ton of fun together and are self proclaimed nerds like myself so we had a fantastic time during their session. Joel is so sweet to Coza and she deserves it because she’s a teacher. I have so much respect for that profession and as my dad says, “it’s the most overworked, under paid position in America.” We met up at Cannonball Creek Brewing for…

Breckenridge fall colors engagement photos | Shabnam & Joseph

Breckenridge fall colors engagement photos | Shabnam & Joseph

Shabnam and Joseph are some of the most intelligent, compassionate people that I have met in recent memory so I wanted to do something special for their session. They recently moved to Denver for medical residency and hadn’t had a chance to check out much of Colorado so they suggested that I choose a location. Since they hadn’t been to the mountains before and the leaves were changing I suggested we drive west to shoot their Breckenridge fall colors engagement photos. Boreas Pass is one of my favorite places to shoot so I knew we would end up there but with the weather being unpredictable we started at Gold Hill Trailhead just outside of town. My girlfriend Amy joined me to help hold umbrellas, coats…

Rembrandt Yard fall wedding | Megan and Bryan | Boulder

Rembrandt Yard fall wedding | Megan and Bryan | Boulder

Megan and Bryan’s Rembrandt Yard fall wedding was the perfect culmination of their relationship because after meeting many years ago at the University of Colorado in Boulder they returned to where it all began to make things official. Surrounded by friends and family from around the country and beyond, they shared their vows together in front of a thousand hand folded paper cranes with the Flatirons visible through the huge picture windows on the third floor of Rembrandt Yard. I knew what to expect at this fantastic space because I photographer another wedding at Rembrandt Yard wedding earlier this season. When I met with them earlier this year for the first time I knew that they would be one of my favorite couples of the year because they…
